Gifts from Nature
I was mowing the yard last night, which is one of my least favorite things to do. I find that it disturbs wildlife and the spirit of the land since it stops a natural growing process. But, in the midst of mowing, I found two gifts left for me from my animal friends.

The walnut was found first. I don't have any walnut trees in my yard, so I imagine that a squirrel friend found it and brought it to the yard and then saw the bird feeders which are a much easier meal. When I was bringing the mower back to the garage, I saw the feather sticking up out of the ground.
Sometimes it is nice to get little signs like that. These made my day and will be used in my Lughnasadh celebration this weekend. I'll return the walnut to the yard afterwards, but will hold on to the feather as a reminder of the spirits of the land that surround me.
In Awen,
Leah
